The Purcellville Train Station was part of the W&OD short line railroad. Construction of the railroad began in 1855. The Purcellville station was the largest train station in Loudoun County. Farmers and merchants transported their goods and produce from western Loudoun to locations along the line and into the greater Washington, DC area.
